Amidst the blurry chaos, I found myself mesmerised by a girl dancing on a platform. Dressed in all black, she donned hula hoops, fire and lights.

In August 2021, I was at a rave in Australia.
Amidst the blurry chaos, I found myself mesmerised by a girl dancing on a platform. Dressed in all black, she donned hula hoops, fire and lights. It felt like the music was reacting to her rather than the other way around. I was awestruck by the pairing of the psychedelic music with her hypnotic sight.
On the final day of the rave, I climbed into Spoons (my campervan) to journal my takeaways. I wrote about how this dancer embodied the full beauty of feminine expression when it’s not suppressed by societal norms. I expressed a desire to work with her. But amidst a sea of hippies and no phone signal, I knew it was impossible to track her down.
A week later, I was in Port Douglas, 250 km from the site of the rave. I parked up next to a group of travellers and said hi. I got chatting with one of them and asked her her story, “I dance,” she said. I looked at her closer. “Were you at Orin Aya last week?” I asked. “Yes…” she replied. “On Day 2 were you on a stage wearing all black with a hula hoop?” “Oh my gosh yep that was me.”
There was a silence. I couldn’t believe I found her. I showed her the note that I wrote down, and how her dance was nothing but pure art to me.
She said that she felt seen, in the best kind of way. We hugged, I played her a beat, and she danced as we laughed at the magic in this world.
Her name is Soof, and she's an absolute star!
The mashups
A few weeks ago, I crossed paths again with Soof in Gokarna. I had just made 5 new mashups. We spent a sunset at Om Beach, where she danced to each of my new creations.
Next week, I’ll be releasing these mashups, along with her dances as reels on Instagram. Before that, I wanted to give my inner circle the full story, and as always - early access to the good stuff.
